A subtle but chilling wind greets the traveler as he steps out of a spinning lavender vortex. This portal is suspended in the middle of a hexagonal gate, standing vertically on a half-buried metal platform. Threaded wiring and thick cables wrap all around the structure of the passageway coming together and plugging directly into a powerhouse with an appearance not unlike that of a radiator. The machine snaps with electricity and hums a deep bass line that drops into nonexistence as it shuts down; venting heat through ports at the top of it's structure. In that exact moment the amethyst portal pops closed like the static burst of a disabled t

"DIVERT POWER TO SHIELDS AND VERTICAL THRUSTERS. I WANT LIFE SUPPORT ON BACK-UP GENERATORS ONLY!" Sweat drips from the commanders brow as he barks orders into a headset microphone. He bounces back and forth between three different terminal operators in a small room lined with monitors. "TELL EVERYONE TO MOVE TO THE MAIN ROOM AND SHUT DOWN ALL WINGS. MINIMIZE ENERGY USE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE."
The name 'Clive' is inscribed on the left shoulder of his rigid, black Admiral's jacket. It is sandwiched between the smaller stitched title of 'Administrator' above and a curious, ashen, hexagonal patch below. In the center of this patch is a

"COME ONE COME ALL!" The man yelled, as he spun enthusiastically.
A strange looking rifle, similar in construction to an Old World matchlock, but with beautiful gold trim, an elaborately crafted scope, and a strange turbine looking contraption where the firing system should be, was strapped tightly to his back. He was wearing goggles with various lenses and lights hinged to the top of them; able to be flipped into place as needed, at a moments notice. His hair was dirty blonde, his eyes a lifeless brown, but the look on his face was one of pure excitement, charisma, and caffeine.
"BE AMAZED! BEDAZZLED! AWESTRUCK!" He leaned toward the sle
Floaters
Colonies of creatures that congregate into one giant biological mass drifting through space. The organisms live off of space plankton, stellar worms, and star fish (Generic names frequently ascribed to a form of miniature space dwelling jellyfish like creatures. These creatures hold various shapes and sizes, and live off the consumption of minerals found on, and in, space debris). The floaters attract them by expelling a refined concentration of various metals and unusable waste, generated by the floaters themselves, that the jellyfish find extremely appealing. The floater then re-ingests the waste via the same massive central organ
The first war was a great one,
The first war beyond the sky.
The first war was a short one,
but so many people died.
Don't know when it started.
They never told us how.
Don't know who was the victor,
or to whom our soldiers bowed.
We saw the light and thunder.
Down to Earth the metal rained.
We felt our numbers dwindle.
Heard the Mothers mourn in pain.
We asked them when it started.
With tears we asked them how.
We asked who was the victor,
or to whom our sons had bowed.
We received no answer.
They didn't bother feed us lies.
All they said, "It was a short one,
and many people died."
